I used to be confused by this. How could your body be a temple. This same idea is repeated in the Bible. But several years ago it started to make sense. It's not about worship or divinity. It's about caring enough about yourself to treat yourself as sacred. It's taking care of yourself so you can take care of the world. It's about loving and being loved. You take care of your car, you change your oil and filters, fill'er up at the gas station ($2.79 a gallon yesterday! Can you believe it?!!) Pay a mechanic money to tune it up or repair it when needed. How much time and energy do we spend on our bodies. Women spend more time worrying about how imperfect they are. When was the last time you were thankful that your legs carried you through a stressful day? How often do you really think about what you are eating? I have never been a stick thin gal. I will never be tall and lithe and supple. But I can take care of myself. I can love myself as I am enough to feed myself good food, exercise regularly and get enough sleep. It's like chicken soup for the body and soul. Slow down, have a cup of tea and a heapin' helpin' of teabag wisdom.Tuesday, October 23, 2007

share your strengths not your weaknesses. ginger Yogi Tea
Words of wisdom indeed! How do we know when something is a strength? Is silence a strength? Is satisfaction weakness? Do we sit back and let things happen? Or do we make a stand and draw the line in the sand, saying 'this far and no farther.' I would like to think I have some strengths. Compassion, positive outlook, intelligence, humor and faith. I am all too aware of my weaknesses which include, but are not limited to, impatience, mercurial temper, a sharp tongue, and rigidness. But is generosity a weakness? It could be if you take it too far. Is playfulness weakness? It could be if you disregard someone's feelings. Serious meditation is called for. *Ohm. *Ohm.Monday, October 8, 2007
man is a vast as he acts. peach detox, Yogi Tea

Hmmm. That sure explains quite a bit. Perhaps that should be restated as "man is as shallow as he acts?" I never cease to be amazed at people. They are so predictable in their self-centeredness. I would like to think that I am not quite so self-centered, but alas, I fear it is not so. The rant is not directed at anyone in particular, just a general rant.
I am really glad that the cooler weather has returned. This weekend's 89 degree heat was just too much. I look forward to brisk early morning walks with the dog and the crunch of the leaves. I am going to rake this weekend and hope that we can have a leaf party with the boys. I think they will like that. We are planning an outing to Pine Tree Apple Orchard this week. They have a corn maze, hay rides, a pumpkin patch, picnic tables--so we are packing chili and corn muffins, in addition to all the apples and apple goodies. I am going to grab some Haralson's and make some apple crisp. That should go well with a cup o' "rosie lee."
Cheers!

self reliance conquers any difficulty. ginger Yogi Tea

Wow! did I really need to hear that! Russ is gone to Chicago for the week and I am going to have a stressful week at work. I really needed reassurance that everything would be okay. Sometimes you forget what you are capable of. I'm not worried about being alone, I'm not afraid of stress, I can handle responsiblity. I really needed that cup of tea!!
